Glazes

Featured Replies

So, having looked at a few reviews I thought I'd come back to our forum for recommendations regarding glazes.

Proms Amigo and Poorboys black hole are good contenders.

Anything newer you've used to great effect?

Regards

Chubbs

Krystal Kleen Detail Re-Gloss

Auto Finesse Ultra Glaze

These get some great reviews and I have used both to great effect.

Interesting one.... depends on the requirements really - time limitations mainly?

I used to use glazes alot on my car, until i got confident with polishing.

Now i find it just as easy to polish rather than glaze.... but  ones i know/use are:-

- Poorboys Blackhole is a good starter...IMO

- Autobrite Cherry Glaze is great on the DA.

- KKD Regloss is absolutely awesome just by hand

It's not a product I have used or intend to use very often, just thought it may plug a hole to meet customer requirements, say they don't want a machine polish and/or the paintwork was in overall very good condition...something in the toolbox to use prior to adding a LSP.

The KKD looks in favour, food for thought! Thanks guys.

Just echoing what Ste said, it all depends on the characteristics that you're after. Prima Amigo is excellent on good paint, but doesn't fill very well at all. 50cal filler glaze and AF ulUltra glaze fill really well, as does good old (well, new formula) Autoglym Super Resin Polish (Radiant wax Trade name). I've used a few, but like Ste, tend to machine with the likes of Britemax Blackmax (thanks Ste, just about used that "Sample" that was more like a full sized bottle! It's awesome brother!) Definitely worth having a decent glaze in your arsenal, but think what you need it for.

Very happy you got on with Britemax Blackmax Neil..... really appreciate the feedback.

Likewise - i gave Karl a sample as well, for the Fabia vRS - and he loved it too.

A very underrated product indeed and soooo easy to use!

I am about to do a for sale thread for loads of gear I'm no longer using. Would do you a good price on a bottle of AF Ultra Glaze !

I have used poorboys blackhole in the past on my old black vehicle (sapphire black paint) & I find the product really good, has great filling agents & leaves a great finish, filling/musking a lot of scratches & swirls, which was applied by hand, I now only use the blackhole on my current black pack on the vRS, wing mirrors, boot protector, badges etc...I also have the trusted auto glym SRP which I always find perfect for the job at hand & for the price & how good the product is, you should always have this in your arsenal.

I've been a fan of the good old SRP for a long time and wonder if I need anything above and beyond that given the infrequency of use.

Added depth and gloss could be achieved with a decent wax. Mmmm, thoughts.....

Black Max is a fantastic bit of kit!

Does it powder like SRP? Rubber friendly?

No it doesnt powder but It's more for machine use.

That's what I was thinking....if it powdered when applying with a DA if could be a bit of a mare! Thanks!

Quick and easy, no powder, and rubber seal friendly  = AD Cherry Glaze
