Columbus Sat Nav - deletion of recent destinations has bricked car

Featured Replies

Hi, help please.

Just picked up a very nice 2012 superb elegance estate yesterday.

I've just been inputting personal data into the sat nav and when I deleted the recent destination list, the whole system has died and the whole car is now reporting multiple errors - airbags / brakes, etc.

Help! Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Colin

Sounds like something is sending spurious signals through the CANBUS, possibly the Columbus unit. I'd be going back to the supplying dealer and having them sort it out.

More likely a dying battery. When it went on my car the list of errors was massive.

Thanks both - the dying battery crossed my mind. Had a similar thing happen to an old Golf

My 62 plate just required a new battery at 4yo. They aren't fitted with the biggest of batteries and so lead a hard life. If it's a diesel then it's even worse!

On my old 58 plate 1.8 TSi Superb it went without warning. Was fine on the drive into drop the kids off at nursery, went home ton pick something up and refused to start again. Was dropping to 4v under load!

Sounds like battery to me too. My last car the battery died without any warning whatsoever - though on the day it was a bit more difficult to start it the first time. It died completely on the way to the Brecon Beacons though so I was glad it died halfway when I stopped to pick up more people....

Thanks Folks, advice was spot on. Just had recovery come out and they fired it up on the first attempt.

Time for a new battery though. I don't want this to happen in the wilds of SW London.

Best,

C.

Lovely car though!
