Huddersfield car sales are advertising my old vrs on their website & autotrader,(PX58FXC) & it looks like they have removed the briskoda sticker from the rear window,its a decent enough car but any potential buyers should pay close attention to both sills & the bottom of the tailgate for rust & it needed a thermostat & coolant sensor & is due a cambelt in november this year.

I wasnt sure if a buyer may look on here first but it was worth a try,i got £3500 for it as a trade in & its now for sale with this dealer for £5200,it needs at least one rear tyre & there is at least £600 of mechanical work required & the same again if not more to do the paint work correctly as it would need the tailgate & sills painting & the n/s/f wing has a deep scratch on it & the o/s/f corner of the bumper is marked & i was alarmed at the amount of corrosion underneath on the rear floor & rear suspension components & as it looks like they have just valeted it & nothing else i wanted to give any potential buyers a quick heads up.

This is unfortunately how dealers are making so much money. A pal of mine traded in his Civic type R a bit back and got 3k for it. The garage put it back on the lot without even cleaning it and had it for sale for £ 4,800. It sold within a week!!

I was happy with £3500 as id already had a few trade valuations on it & as i knew what work was required on it & what it would cost i was happy to change rather than sink money into it,i traded it in a the volvo dealer & they must trade them out to this dealer at huddersfield. I could have sold it on here for a bit more but didnt want to sell it with these known to me issues.

Sad to think they will make that much profit on your old car when it clearly needs a little attention. Unlikely but let's hope the new buyer reads this thread because it's unfair to give you £3,500 and look to make £1,700 after a little wash and polish, we don't call them Stealers for nothing!

I've got a 55 reg tdi Sport that has just turned 90k, I had all 4 door sills, boot and the spoiler done under warranty 2 years ago and only had to contribute £160. Apart from the odd small scratch (lacquer only) which is easily touched up it drives as sweet as a nut. The annoying thing is it's probably not worth a great deal to anyone else but I know the work that's gone into it to keep it running and looking so good, should I ever decided to sell it someone will get a great car for next to nothing.

I keep an Excel log of everything that's been done to it service and work, that way when they ask me does it have a full dealer service history I can confidently say NO but this is what has been done to it with dates and mileage.

I'm reluctant to sell it for anything secondhand older than 3 years because I know exactly what has been done to mine.

Was that a claim on Skodas anti corrosion warranty or your own warranty? Just bought an 06 vrs and there is a little rust appearing round the lips of the rear arches and wings although strangely the sills look fine.

Skoda, I had to work hard to get their attention but do your research and read up on what to say. Make sure you quote the 12 year anti corrosion warranty policy so they know you know what your talking about, if they still won't honour the warranty policy threaten to go to the trading standards agency. I went directly through Skoda UK not a dealer but used my local dealer to get the work done.

I've just bought it yesterday so i havnt a clue about its history although is hpi clear no paint which i believe it's an excuse they use to wriggle out of it. How long have you owned your Octavia?

Well it looks like it has sold. 

With what you've said, and if they read this, whoever bought it could be in a good place to go straight back if the work hasn't been done and say "I want x, y, z done on this now as I've got a 3 month warranty (probably) and these are all not working/faulty!)
