Yep another rattle thread

Featured Replies

Well the hunt for rattles goes on. This one is coming from around my right side when sat in the driver's seat but can't seem to find any loose trim so I think it's hidden :( . Anyone know where to look before i start taking door cards off? Cheers

Wow and I thought mine was frustrating, have you checked the seat hight adjuster?

Yeah have tried adjusting it and holding it, still rattles :/

That is annoying. At least you can induce it.  A second set of ears might help whilst one induces rattle other has ear to seat area?  It couldn't be under the car could it like the plastic underbody tray on that side?

Yeah I guess it could be the under tray... I'll check it out thanks

Any luck with this? After hearing your noise and suggesting an outside chance of undertray I am almost postiive I heard my 2011 vRS TSI doing this from cold start a few mornings ago, but it then went away, and I couldn't reproduce it again but I suspect it may come back!

Mine appears to come and go so I'll get the under tray off and see if there's any stones stuck up in there

Checked mine tonight. Didn't remove it (the driverside under tray)  but banged against it and there is a gravel sound in there so that could be a contributing factor if larger pieces of stone get in there. I don't think it is the problem in my case as the noise was much more rattly. However, at the frond of the undertray, just near the wheel arch, there is a cut out and rotating piece of plastic tray as a cover.  I assume to provide access for some reason. My undertray is very loose and rattly around that piece, and the piece is loose.   If I hit around it, it resonated quite a lot.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was my culprit. It must have presumably fitted better when new but not such a good solid fit anymore....

Ooh okay I'll dive under and have a look tomorrow. Probably shove some foam in there or something. Thanks :)
