Fabian Estate being purchased

Featured Replies

Hi

I am looking to purchase a nearly new fabia estate  -  a car that I want to last me for a good few years.

I have always been a fan of diesels and of course there are £0 tax.  However, I have heard that theses 3 cal engines are not that good after high miles, due to the chain drive to the balancing shafts and the extra complications arising.

To that end, I am considering either getting a 1.0 or 1.2 petrol as majority of my driving is fairly local( I have a camper van for holidays and most long journeys).

Has anyone done big mileage in the diesels and the petrols and have anything to feedback on long term usage and reliability?

Will be looking at buying either 12 or 18 months old, certainly, the new model.

Any assistance/advice welcomed.

Cheers

Alan

Welcome along Alan!  I'm sure there are a few members on the Fabia forum that will have some experience of these engines.  No harm to stick up a similar post there http://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/298-skoda-fabia-mk-iii/.  Hope you find what you're looking for.

Hello Alan -  Welcome to Briskoda!

Cheers,
Ste.
