CD Changer+Head Unit Problem

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After disconnect the battery of my O2 for 2 weeks now my CD changer doesn't work and I get message on the screen of HU "No Int.CD" post-126085-0-19460700-1477407827_thumb.jpg

I thought CD is gone so I buy another working one (second hand). Same result. So it is not the CD Changer. Must be something else, but what... Any advise?

Have you had it working before????????????????????

ie both the single cd and the changer????????

I take it, it is navigation, too???????? Do you have a navigation disc?

When you say you 'thought cd is gone'? so you bought another, do you mean the whole front unit, the changer, or both, (or an actual cd????????Lol).

Does the changer load at all?

Does the front unit load at all?

Before disconnect the battery everything worked. I thought the Cd changer unit is gone and that's why I've order another cd changer. The changer and the HU load, eject without any issues. Just doesn't play anything and I have that message on the display.

Mike,

do you know how I can restart the unit?

Does the radio a work? and do you use the navigation when the cd works?

It is same model as mine and as Mr H says it is very outdated as far as the navigation goes. Mine works fine though.

It does sound like an electrical glitch happened when you reconnected the battery.

The radio works without problem. I have the car 3 years already and the sat nav never worked for me. But the problem with the changer starts 2 weeks ago?!?!

Guys,

there is a light in the dark. Yesterday I disconnect and connect the battery as same manner as I did it before. Turn on the engine and turn on the radio. First I saw on the screen for less than a second the menu where the system ask you for PIN code-obviously the computer remembers the code. Radio start smooth working. Press the button CD and  cd disc played music for let's say about 25 sec. Error and system change to radio. Press CD button, played music from the cd for 1:30min then I decide to increase the volume and again the system error changed to Radio mode. Press again CD starts for 1 sec and on the screen shows me Track 80 and time like 8hours?!?? Changed to radio, press CD button , CD played music for a second or two , changed to radio - and that exercise repeat several times until it said NO Int.CD.

Do you think it is not enough power or cable issues?

Mike,

so you think if I scan with VCDS the radio I'll see what is the problem?

I don't think the unit is gone. If it was a fault, it shouldn't start any CD at all. Am I right?

I know about Columbus and Bolero but I don't want to spend so much money on music!

Do you think it is not enough power or cable issues?

Logically, IMO, no. (as you state you have internal cd issues, too).

You could try cleaning the player. I think (but don't quote me on this) you can get a kit to clean the internals of the player.

It is a bit of a long shot, but may just cure your problem. Good luck.

Tilt,

where I stated that I have internal cd issues???

I have run cleaning disc into cd changer before order another one - no result and I do not think that is the problem. With the other changer it is same!

Is there a factory reset function on the headunit? If there is I would suggest doing that and see if that helps any. Or if you have the ability to reinstall the latest firmware as the one installed on the headunit might be corrupt.

I do not have a clue is there any reset function on the head unit :( Anyone? I though that I need to put again PIN code because I loose the connection between the HU and the changer, but the changer now starts for a second (if decide it to do that). Do you know how I can enter the hidden menu?

I'll try to find how to reinstall the latest firmware. Do you know to do that? To me makes sense, so I'll try.

Thanks!

By 'internal', I meant the one inside the car (as well as the changer). Should have said the head unit. Sorry to confuse.

As you have already tried cleaning then I have no other advise.

Hi again,

Finally I have been to Skoda and the lady told me just for booking they will charge me £72 and after that they will do their investigation and.....

I decide to find someone whom fixing car audio every day rather than go to Skoda.

So, any suggestion are welcome. Thanks in advance!

Car audio in Leyton High road are really good and will be able to help you out.

Thanks. I have been there 2-3 weeks ago. They said that can offer new one only, not original.

There is something else since today. If the volume on the radio is up to 4, than CD is working without problem. Increase the volume and CD stops straight away :(

Therein lies a problem - the radio doesn't sound as if it is communicating with the rest of the car. if it was, it would pick up the PIN code from the instrument cluster (codes are stored there so they don't need inputting after the battery is disconnecting)

If it is asking for a code, then it cannot retrieve the code that is already stored in the car's instrument cluster, and this is a sign that the internal memory of the head unit is failing or has failed. You could really do with a full VCDS scan to see of there are any fault codes stored in the radio and other modules. I would suspect that there would be communication errors in a couple of areas.

In all honesty with a Nexus unit it really isn't worth messing about with. It will have come to the end of its useful lifespan and I would strongly susjest looking at replacing it for a better Columbus unit (if you want to retain the sat nav) or a Bolero (without nav). I don't think anyone would disagree with me when I say that a portable TomTom or Garmin is a way superior navigation than a Nexus, and that the Nexus won't be missed.

Mike

Mike,

if I listen to your advise and change the HU, do you think I need to do anything else than just swap the 2 units. Let's say if it is bolero or columbus? Do I need to program something, or change any cables/plugs?

Thanks.

Might be wrong, but it should be plug and play, mine certainly was. You can get a bolero for £100 or less on ebay, just make sure it has the pin code. Don't know if you'll need a different surround, some stereos are slightly different shapes. Pretty easy though.
