Vibrating Air Duct

Featured Replies

Some of you Superb drivers will no doubt remember the spate of problems with the vibrating air duct a while back. For most people, it would make a booming or growling noise at around 1500rpm.

Although mine went in for the modified part at the time, the darn thing still starts vibrating again. Seems to get sorted on each service, but then starts in between. As I am a while away from the next service, it's starting to irritate.

Anyone had/having the same trouble, and got a practical solution?

Also, I inadvertently reset the service indicator a few weeks ago, when I was meant to be resetting the trip. Do I need to go back to the dealer to sort it?

Thanks

Chris

Dealer will have to reset the service light and calculate when the next service is.

I usually find a few self tapping screws stop the air pipes vibrating.

Ross, that was quick!!

Thanks for that, I'll give them a call to arrange the reset. I'll have a look at the pipes in the morning. (Where do you usually fix the screws?)

Thanks

Chris

I usually put one in each end (one front one rear).

Just be carefull nowt falls into the airpipe. It cant actually do any damage as its the supply side of the air filter but best not chance it.

Many thanks again, Ross.

I had a vibrating air box, it wasnt until i took the air box out to find the source of the problem that i found it was all loose, its all properly clipped back together now and no booming or resonnance.

So the air box, and not the duct? Hmmm, guess I'd better check that out then.

Thanks for the tip off SJ.
