I find this subject fascinating as to where to motoring journalists place a particular car and the various catagories that there are. For example, the Skoda Octavia is placed in the "Small Family Car" bracket, excuse me but small it ain't, this car is big enough to carry five passengers in comfort, is larger than the old Ford Mondeo and has a boot bigger than a 5 Series BMW!. Todays cars are larger than ever before, the VW Golf Mk1 is smaller than some of todays supermini's. My wife has a new shape Ford Fiesta and happened to park next to a Mk1 Fiesta, the size difference is quite astonishing and I am sure the same could be said for many others.

They had the Focus , Leon and Golf as competitors , which on price alone they are.

The next size up had the Passat , Accord , Avensis and Vectra all of which cost more than the Octavia despite not really being any bigger
