Boot refuses to open......2006 fabia

Featured Replies

I would be grateful if anyone of the lovely skoda owners could help me sort out my skoda boot problem. The motor works but the boot refuses to open. It opens a tiny bit then we have to go into the bootvia the backseats to release the catch. Please belp...xxxxxx anyone

Hi,

Is this an estate or saloon?

I have an 03 estate and the boot release cable can be adjusted at the boot catch - I assume the saloon will be similar. The trim around the boot catch needs to be removed to access the nuts to adjust the cable tension, this should sort it out if the cable is not broken.

Mines an 06 and does the same the motor makes a sound when you squeeze it but won't open, what I do is put my left hand on the boot and push down then squeeze the switch with my right there is a knack.

Literally had this last week- open the boot via the inside of the car as you've mentioned. Looking at the boot locking mechanism you'll see a metal latch that's meant to contact the boot release switch- the latch on mine was bent slightly out of alignment so was missing the boot release switch.

This bit will sound a bit daft but you have to hit it with a hammer bending it back down into alignment. If you'd prefer pics I'll happily get you some.

I've got the same problem, the boot will open but its as if it gets stuck on a second latch! I think I know which part you mean but would appreciate if you could upload some pictures, don't want to go hitting the wrong thing.

i'll post some up tonight mate no problem

The latch in the second picture is the thing that was bent out of alignment on mine so I just tapped it back down with a hammer
