Battery wiring?

Featured Replies

I've got a mystery yellow and green wire going to the negative battery terminal on my '05 1.9SDI. It's not connected to anything and can't seem to find any reference to it anywhere. All the diagrams I have found show the little brown wire that's part of the negative battery cable (not that I know what that one is for) but not this yellow and green one.

I'll try to add a picture later.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Cheers.

Added after manufacture by a previous owner, no doubt, for some extra widget or other.

As you say, only a brown one on the negative clamp according to the wiring diagrams.  That is for voltage sensing, along with a red/yellow one from fuse 10 on the battery fuseholder go to the Onboard Supply Control Unit in the cabin. It's in charge of the electrics, so needs a 'pure' view of the battery voltage unaffected by the current flows that might exist in non-dedicated wiring.

Thanks Wino!

Its good to know that I can get rid without shooting myself in the foot later. Especially after a fruitless couple of hours of not finding anything on the forums or the wider interwebs.

Cheers
