Macbook users on Sierra help

Featured Replies

I have both Macbook 15" Pro Retina and 13" Air, 2015 models. Since updating to Sierra from El Capitan my battery life has taken an hammering, MBP going from 8 hours down to 2.5 hours and the MBA from 12 hours down to nearly 4 hours. I have disabled Spotlight as this is blamed as the main culprit for the drain, reset PRAM and SMC, booted into Safe Mode and ran for a while before going back to normal mode. In normal bootup I have let them run with youtube videos playing until the battery goes from full to flat a few times and this has increased the battery lifes to 4.5 hours on the MBP and MBA to 8 hours. These are still much reduced from their pre update battery life which was one of the main reasons to going to Macbooks.

Does anyone else have some suggestions to resolving this issue which would ideally keep Spotlight running as it is useful and without it cripples the operating system. Otherwise how easy is it to revert back to El Capitan, please remember I'm more wizzo on a PC than a Mac so would need an idiots guide.
