Front fog lights

Featured Replies

Found my front fog light had broken today. Looks like something has hit it and the glass has broken and fallen out.

Has anyone brought fog lights off ebay?

Are they any good and are they a like for like match to the original skoda ones or will I need to buy a pair?

Gonna entire at TPS tomorrow, if the price isn't to bad I'll get one from there. But I'd like to keep the eBay route as a back up just in case it's expensive from TPS.

Thanks.

On my mark 5 golf I managed to source some hella oem replacements via euro car parts but it was a pita cross referencing the part numbers and I had to send one attempt back.  You need the original part number from the removed item or replacement part from TPS as a good start....  When I did it I think TPS wanted about £60 and I got it for £35 but literally took me hours to nail the part down.....Should of removed it from the start.

Doesn't anyone enjoy a good rummage round a scrappy anymore.

It's the environmentally friendly way :-)

Gone are the days when I was able to, err, acquire all sorts of bits and pieces for my old Escorts and Astras!

Indeed. I remember getting things like switches to go in places where my cars had blanks. Seldom wired any up, just didn't like the blanks!! Found all sorts of stuff back in the day.

I have childhood memories of visiting scrappies too with mates. Final year of school, there was always either something broken or some upgrade mod to try to look for.. Yards full of 100s of car some in a worse state than others. Clearly was a H&S nightmare but no-one was too fussed then....Used to be a weekly visit to replenish parts for the coming week!

Edit: and this was also in the day where you look for and remove the parts yourself so you had to turn up with the toolkit! It was always worthwhile having two of you as well!

Ahhh the good old days.

I'm fortunate enough there's still a couple of scrappies in my area that let you have a rake, of course the area is all concrete now and not the muddy/oily quagmires of old and the cars aren't stacked on top of each other and are arranged by make/model.

Shame they never have any Octavias in.

I work for a scrappy or ELV site as it is now known, we have people in all the time taking stuff off for themselves, although I get very frustrated with people who turn up and expect to borrow my tools to take off the parts they need, Im not talking about the odd spanner or torx  driver that they forgot/didnt know they needed, they literally come with no tools to do the job they are undertaking!

The oily quagmire of the past has gone because The Environmental authorities have decreed that vehicles have to be "depolluted" on arrival, again we are not fully concrete but the yard is hardcored, and the cars are stacked 2 high. We have had arguments with the Environmental bods about not draining Dampers they say they should be drilled and drained at depollution time but we say they stay on the cars till they are ready to be crushed as they are viable parts.

Octavias' are a rarity, we get a few expired diesel mk1s from local cab firms and we recently had a Diesel Superb, but no mark 2's and generally few Skodas, Plenty of (the "wrong") Golfs, Polos and Passats,  that is the reason I am busy looking thru various places looking for a decent interior for my Estate.
