New owner and new to this forum.

 

We have a 2002 1.4 16v |Fabia and two things are winding us up

 

1) When you unlock with the key in the door, the lock locks again straight away. Sometimes wont unlock either.

2) Key not coded to the car. I have tried to pair it to no avail.

 

Can you advise?

Does the plip work correctly?

Do all doors (including boot and fuel cover if applicable) unlock correctly?

Blip (part of the key) does not work - New battery installed.

 

All doors work correctly.

If the plip doesn't work, it could be the door or door - pillar wiring on the driver's door. Unfortunately inspecting this means taking the door card off and then looking for corroded contacts in the plugs and continuity testing wires.

I hear that the lock is known to  play up (I read this someplace) - More so the micro switches with in the lock?  

 

it all seems to point to the lock because we have noticed that if the key isn't exactly right position then the central locking goes mad... 

 

Can the lock mech be the case? I've just bought another one to replace it with?

IME the electrical connectors are much more common problems.

So, how can I check this please?
