Problems with Radio

Featured Replies

I took out the factory radio and replaced it with my own which i think is alba was in the car two days and just stopped working.

Brought it to halfords and the radio works fine but wont work in the car. Also the factory radio gets power but goes into safe mode so theres still power so its not the fuse.

Any idea how I can get my radio working in the car hate driving with no music ?

Have you swapped over the red and yellow wires on the radio harness?

Yeah there was still no change. I don't understand how it worked for two days and now it won't.

I think the fabia uses an active aerial which is powered "down the line" i.e. 12v through the aerial lead. Most other radios will not feed the required current so you need an adapter between radio and aerial plug which is probably just a choke in the 12v feed so that it doesn't dampen the radio signals and a capacitor in the direction of the radio itself. You say it worked initially - maybe you were just lucky with a very strong signal that didn't need the external aerial.

is there a blue cable for "antenna" on the back of the stereo? if memory serves correct i had to move one of the pins

there is a fantastic thread on here somewhere about fitting after market stereos :) sorry can't find link right now

Its not just the radio stations part of it the entire radio unit wont power up there is a red light flashing on it when its plugged in and i pressed the reset button but nothing will work

Sounds like it's security locked itself.
