Zymol Car of the Month July '04 - I must get a life!

Please remove pictures of your Bavarian Barge and lets see yer Skodas:D

Random post of the year!

Off topic guys...:nutkick:

New pics to follow.....

I wont be 'cutting' mine!! Rather pointless exercise for little , if any, gain

I agree, very little to gain, extreme lots to lose. I wont be either.

Josh, or anyone else who has done this mod. How often do you have to clean your filter. Currently mine needs cleaning every 6-10k (I know it says every 6k but that last few times it seemed ok).

Since the bore of the two intakes is the same at the air filter end, I'm wondering if just cutting away the dam/flap thingy on the bulkhead cutout* would be sufficient to give a performance improvement on its own

* OK, the bit everyone is talking about - don't know what's best to call it!

It wont make any noticable difference!!

You could of course remove the bonnet altogether and attach a huge cone to collect all the air coming your way !!! Ps. Dont tell Schkoda !!!

I just spent some of the morning doing this further mod.

The piece of plastic I removed seemed very large and obstructive indeed.

Anyway went out for a quick spin on my local private track and car did seem smoother - not sure if this was placebo or if it was because I'd spent the moring with my mate and his Corrolla AE86 drift spec car (which isn't exactly smooth and refined!!)

Anyway car was pulling smoothly but suddenly went into limp mode after a fair bit of hard acceleration! Anyway, reset it on the fly and then a min or so later it happened agian, only this time the engine management light came on.

Luckily my local dealer is just off my private track and I had a quick pit stop. The fault logged was that max boost had been reached or exceeded and thus put the car in limp mode. With the light and fault removed I was back out again.

Not sure if the two are related as I did have my car do this the other day, pre cheap mod 3! (I did post in the ask a tech forum but that seems to have disappeared).

Wonder if my ECU just needs some time to adapt????????

I know Chris asked earlier about cleaning the filter. I always do mine every 5K. Once just before service and one inbetween. Fairly easy to remember!

It wont make any noticable difference!!

What do you reckon? May not be suitable for LHD models...!

Hmmm.

An extra 1-2 bhp and having to clean the filter every 500 miles (That would be at least once a week for me)?

You ever been stuck behind a lorry full of hay?

I can see that the flow of air would have less turbulance but I can't see a huge difference in the potential volume.

My 2c's...

How about this easy-clean version then? Just bung it through the car wash!

(I'll stop now, as it's getting silly!!! :D )

I've got no probs then. Mine doesn't even HAVE a trumpet. Still gets plenty of air sucked in though from where the "other bit" terminates.

Its time now for me to expand the out-take (sp? ?:D) bit of my system, and leave the intake bit alone.
