Replacing 0/S CV boot - difficult?

Featured Replies

I have just had an early MOT done on the Octavia (doesn't expire until 21st), and it has failed on a split O/S outer CV boot. I was quoted around £70 labour plus the part (which is around £12), and I am really brassic at the moment, so would like advice from anyone who has done this job themselves.

Thanks.

what I do with my local garage is that I supply the part for the car then your just paying for labour.

Stretchy boot and a cone make it an easy job. I've done one on my dad's and it was straight forward.

I have had a look at some online videos, and it seems a doable job. I have bought a boor kit, and it includes a hub nut - with an internal allen key fitting. I did the front discs and pads a few months ago, but cannot remember seeing a strange hub nut.

Are you supposed to replace the hub nut every time or just torque it up correctly?

Yes you are suppose to replace the bolt eveytime you undo it as it is a stretch bolt. You probably have the new 12 sided bolt which supersedes the old 6 sided bolt
