Central locking locks if only bootlid is opened

Featured Replies

If i unlock my car using the central locking remote, and then i open the boot, the car locks within about 30 secs and i have to press the button again.

Its as if it doesn't realize a door has been opened and so locks itself unless a side door is openened.

I find this really annoying and potentially a huge problem if you put the keys in the boot whilst loading and then shut the boot youve locked your keys in!

is this normal behaviour or is there a fault somewhere?

The bootlid was changed a while ago and it still does it so cant be a faulty lock

I reckon this is either a failed switch in the boot lock or a broken wire between tailgate and body.

Nope - they do this as standard.  You have to open/close a door before opening the boot if you want it to not lock. :)  It will know the boot is open, but it will not stop the auto-locking - and to my knowledge there is no way to stop it either.  Certainly not a VCDS option.

Mine doesn't do it. The car stays unlocked with boot open.

Here we go chaps, I made a video (there is no audio because I forgot to turn the mic on).

I unlock the car with the remote.

I open the boot.

I stand for over a minute - the car does not re-lock itself.

I open the driver's door to prove it.

Thank for that video, mine locks itself after about 30 secs whereas yours stays open

I think there must be a problem somewhere

I know its not with the boot locks or wiring as ive replaced the entire tailgate & all the wiring and it still does it

Must be the central locking controller if there is one
