Reflective tape on boot lip

Featured Replies

Was following a Mk 1 Octavia home the other day, and noticed he had a strip of red reflective tape on the very bottom of the boot lip .. It certainly done the job well, and essentially (I thought anyway) created another visible warning point ..

Had anyone else on here done anything similar ? If so, what products would you recommend / what colour etc

Also, any points to be aware of, adding reflective tape to the car / MOT wise ?

Cheers

Not much with the MOT as they are not testing the vehicle in the dark and shining a light at it.

Reflecting red at the rear of a passenger vehicle makes sense, and if putting at the side then match at the other side as with reflectors which are fitted in matched pairs.

If doing a line of reflective tape then common sense would want it fitted so as it looks neat.

Not on the rear per-se but I have done small strips on the doors in various places so they can be seen when ajar or open. 3m reflective in red or yellow has always worked well for me and withstood many years of abuse

I've used reflective tape down the back of the push bike and it's certainly effective. Make sure you get the good stuff though, bought cheap first time off eBay and realised before I applied it was pretty useless. Spent a bit more on 3M tape and it is really good.

3M diamond grade tape

It's very pricey, but it's what we install onto emergency services vehicles so if your looking to be more visible that's the stuff to go with.
