I was just completing an order and the site closed down on me ! :-

Server not responding to pings.

 

First time that's happened to me in 10 years !

 

Customer care  advises (Over phone) that the orders been preserved.

 

I would have thought that 23:00 is a bit early in the evening for essential maintenance ? 

 

The shut down was sudden and organised, not a gradual degradation of response, so, probably not overload. Too early for Xmas orders.

 

Wonder what's occuring ?

Site was back-up at 00:45.

 

Order details had been preserved, so I completed and submitted same.

 

Seems to have registered.

 

But during the close down, the order window timer was obviously still ticking away, as, when I signed-on again, there was only 27 minutes left to complete the order. Had I left completing the order to this morning, there's a possibility that the order window would have expired and may be the order with it.

 

What interested me was how quickly the site closed down - like somebody had pulled the BRS.

 

Wondered if it was an "Anti-Mass disruption/intrusion" test.

Oh Yeah ? What, in five pitch font, at the bottom of the FAQ page for an hour last Thursday.
