Lifeshine - Best way to do it yourself

Featured Replies

When my new car arrives I would like to protect the paintwork.

I didn't opt for life shine as appears a complete rip off when can just do it myself.

What is the best way to protect the paint and which products do you recommend?

I'm not into the detailing side of things, just something simple and quickish to protect the paint.

You're probably better off getting a detailer to do it but if you want to do it your self, you can buy the Life Shine PDI and After Care kit from eBay for a fraction of the cost.

Bit more difficult at this time of year with the bad weather, but maybe you have access to a garage to work in.

As the paintwork should be almost perfect, you just need a sealant, not a polish to protect it. Many available from Autoglym, Meguiars NXT is also good.

Just wash and dry your car, apply the sealant with some good clean microfibre cloths, let it dry a bit then buff off.

Alternatively consider contacting a local pro detailer, they will be cheaper than the dealership and do a better job. I would have thought around £150-200 would get a thorough new car protection valet.

Bilt Hamber snow foam

Meguires Gold Shampoo

Polish

Bilt Hamber claybar

Bilt Hamber Finis Wax (couple of layers)

BOOOM :)

This is what I originally did when we got our Brand new White Yeti. ( Lots of other products available, just my preference)

First with Auto Finesse Iron out . Amazed how purple the car went.

Snow foamed and washed car off.

Dried car off completely.

Prepped with Auto Finesse Tough coat prep and then sealed with Auto Finesse Tough Coat.

I also use Sonax Xtreme BSD after washes.

Water beads well and good shine.

Got lots of info from Polised Bliss website.

Will use same products on new car when it arrives

Check out Polished Bliss. They have. 3 for 2 running on Auto Finesse products, including the kits.

For a light car look at Tough Coat, for darker cars look at the waxes such as Temptation.

Do not think that the paint is clean, fresh and new. And therefor just need a sealer.

Use some type of iron out (I use Iron-X), you will be amazed of how much dirt there is.
