Interior Getting Wet

Featured Replies

Opening the car door in heavy rain is causing the inside panel of the door to get wet, switches and the lot.

The water seems to be dropping from the door itself , the uppermost visible painted part. That water in turn seems to have dripped off the double flock- coated rubber seal.

I emphasis that no leakage occurs when the door is shut.

Apart from drying everything, under these circumstances, anything else I can do?

You could clay bar the inch or 2 of bodywork immediately above/inside the window surround, so that water sits on it rather than flowing off?

Do you also have water buildup at the bottom of the door (seal between the door & the lip of the car) which splashes on your feet when you open the door?

There was a long running but now solved issue with door seals not allowing the water to pass to the outside after heavy rain or washing.

I got a wet head from rain water coming off the roof the day I got my Octavia. Funnily enough after giving it a good clean, clay bar and polish, it hasn't happened again, so maybe KenONeill is onto something!

Can you advise how door sill issue has been solved? I get a build up after heavy rain or a pressure wash, so any ideas how to fix it would be appreciated.

The temperorary solution (which I have on my car) was to cut some additional holes in the seal to allow water to drain.

For me this works perfectly, however, others have reported it didnt resolve their issue.

The final solution from Skoda was a new door seal part with modified holes which seems to be the best fx for everyone.

Checkout this thread, at the end theres some pictures of both solutions & the part numbers for the old & new seals
