Stereo Install Help

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I currently have a VRS Estate 2010 (Manual) with the Bolero stereo with all the functionality missing as I believe the DSG version got this from standard (Bluetooth e.t.c)

I have been offered a Kenwood DNX-7250DAB for £200 and want to know if anyone has fitted an aftermarket stereo and what the issues where?

Issues I can foresee

New Facia ? which one and where do I get it from ?

Will the Air Conditioning show up on screen still ? (Can-Bus? )

Do require any extra cabling apart from the correct ISO Harness ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as working in IT I feel the car lacks some serious gadget functionality.

Love the car though

Thanks

Justin

You'll probably end up with an adaptor plate to shrink the current Bolero shaped hole to double DIN. Just make sure the one you buy is the right shape as there are two to choose from. Personnally, I don't think any look particularly good and I've not seen facia with just a rectangular hole.

Random eBay example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361463142320

I think Skoda also do a kit, not sure if it's single or double DIN.

Nope - you'll loose any integration with the car. If you have a MFSW (multi function steering wheel with buttons) then you'll need an additional adaptor to get it to work.

You'll probably need an antenna adaptor, a DAB antenna and to run a switched live feed from the fusebox. The standard radio only uses a permanent live and is switched via CANbus.

You can also use a ISO harness with a CANbus adaptor built in but it'll be more expensive.

Which functions are you most wanting to add? Is it bluetooth, satnav, DAB or all of these?

The main thing i would like is Bluetooth connectivity and to be able to run my phone throught it for hands free.

I dont have the Multi function steering wheel.

Thanks

If you only want to add bluetooth, it can be done with the Bolero.

You can add the bluetooth module and it will then show up on the touch screen. Which module you get depends on whether you get RSAP, music streaming etc.

There is also the aftermarket FISCON option to consider
