Oil leak from somewhere?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

So I recently had to replace the oil cap seal as there was a huge amount of oil being sprayed out onto the rocker cover and down the back of the block. Turns out the seal was almost paper thin and the oil cap could be rocked back and forth so clearly wasn't making a good seal. Anyway, I bought a new cap and seal and screwed the new cap directly onto the rocker cover instead of having the taller cap 'extension' on it to make it sit flush with the engine cover. I've driven it a few miles today with no sign of any oil leaking out of the cap anymore (yay) .... however I've gone back out after about 2 hours of the car sitting on the drive and there is a few spots of oil sitting under the car.....could it just be the amount of oil that has come out of the cap previously is still being heated up and running down the block and off the bell housing or should I consider checking for further oil leaks within the engine bay?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks all.

You should consider washing the oily engine clean then any other leaks will be obvious.
