Need a waterpump for my fabia 1.9tdi pd100. ATD engine code. 6Y3 chassis. Looking to get a metal instead of plastic geniune one. Wheres the best place ? Any help appreciated..

I got a whole water pump, roller , tensioner, belt for about £90 from onlinecarparts.co.uk (not even a UK company!)

Dunno if that is a good price for the whole kit?

 

Belt is Gates so good. pump is metal as far as i remember

IIRC the OE water pump is totally adequate. The impeller was redesigned I think.

 

145 from a PD 100's not bad. 154 FTW though :p

The idea with the plastic impeller is that it will snap off if the bush fails rather than jamming and snapping the cambelt, some early pumps shed their impeller a little too enthusiastically, most contemporary engines with cambelt driven water pumps have plastic impellers for this reason. Don't buy a cheap pattern pump, get decent OEM quality, likewise with the tensioner pulley, cheap cambelt kits come with poor quality tensioner pulleys.

Thanks for the replies. I already have the genuine cambelt kit. I was hesitant in getting the original waterpump as some people some metal equivalents would be more hard wearing. Just gonna do some research and get a decent waterpump.
