On 1.4 L3 80ps diesel motors.

How can you tell if the turbo is doing its job?

Drop below 1600rpm is say 3rd up a incline and put your foot down you should feel it come in from around 1800-1900rpm and through to near 4000rpm, my wifes Polo goes very well, if you do it in 1st its a short boost due to the gearing where as 3rd you can feel it working better, what makes you think yours is not ?

Thanks. I'll try this.

I felt a small power loss in the last weeks. Just replaced the timing belt. And now I'm just curious because there is no gauge to indicate that turbo is active or not.

I drive a lot of inclines on my way to and from work. That's where I felt the small power loss.

But it might be just my imagination.

Let me try your advice in the next days.

You'd know if it wasnt

It's working.

Thanks.

In my case, I feel it working much more in 2nd gear in fast city traffic where you have to have a bit heavier foot than usual.

Thanks again.
