Rear bumper trim removal or repair?

Featured Replies

Someone has touched the rear bumper on my vrs whilst parking, putting a crease in the black plastic trim above the rear reflector.

Has anyone done a repair to that bit themselves?

Is it a "Dentman" job?

Would it be easier to replace and if so has anyone removed one and how?

A body repair shop close to me (so no use to you) had made an excellent job of repairing damage to the plastic bumpers of two of my friends' cars.  One was a dent and the other was a split and dent.  So it is possible.

That particular repair shop is no longer in business as the owner was killed in an Isle of Man TT race in 2015.

It's plastic.

Replace every time.

My wife had someone back into her Fiesta at walking pace and that was a replacement job.........very little damage to the bumper itself but the clips fastening the bumper to the chassis were out of true and so the only solution was a new bumper........£330 + VAT + fitting.

Sorry my mistake, it's the black trim "below" the reflector that's been creased.

Cover it with a diffuser from superskoda.com?

Haha....literally had just put one on the day before! I was lucky that it wasn't damaged. Not with car to upload photo but it's the bit directly below reflector that's damaged. Its one of those thats not bad but I know it's there, so is annoying. A first world problem!

I'm going to try having a go with a heat gun to see what happens. I spoke to my dealer this morning and they can do the part for £46+vat, so if heat gun fails it shouldn't be be too expensive.
