Help, check engine plus EPC

Featured Replies

Hello for everyone!

Have massive problem with my Scout 1.8tsi, 160ps, couple days ago on dash appeared check engine and EPC lights at the same time, and engine was shaking, ok...

Pluged to pc and saw that 4th cylinder is not working, thought that problem is with sparkplugs, changed all of them, everything was ok, no lights and engine worked properly, but today was the same again but with 2nd cylinder, changed that sparkplug again, till  now everything is allright, but i`m anxious that the problem will appear again!

Maybe some of you had the same problem? What could cause these faults?

Funniest part is that dealer said that he has no idea what could cause this fault, today was there as well to check with diagnostics

Thank you guys.

Welcome to the forum.

If a spark plug was failing it maybe has caused an Ignition Coil to fail, have you checked them?

Thanks.

I thought if ignition coil is bad for one cylinder it cant cause failure for another, or it can? Because each cylinder have seperate ignition coil or i`m wrong?

If you have the coils back where they were then good.

What were the spark plugs you removed looking like. and after changing why change one again, what was wrong with it?

is its possible to see if there left any coils? But then how its possible that now is missfiring another cylinder? that means that probably two of ignition coils are bad or there is one main ignition coil which controlls whole four?

Spark plug i changed because it worked before, changed only one because all of them was new.
