VRS Major & Minor service details please?

Featured Replies

Can someone please tell me EXACTLY what is involved in a Major and a Minor service on a Skoda Fabia Mk II VRS with an original CTHE engine?

I would like to know what parts are replaced and what work is supposed to be carried out by a Skoda Main Dealer.

I would also like to know the price of each type of service.

I would also be interested in knowing the same for a brake fluid change.

Many thanks

Minor service and Major service can be essentially the same thing as they only replace the major service items if required.

You might find that some Skoda Main Dealers have started changing Spark Plugs at a Major Service.

In the past some wanted £110 over and above the Service Cost.

(says once again remove wheels and check brakes, this was missing for the past couple of years.

Funnily when the wheels have not been removed or drums on the rear with cars with drums the Service Desk Staff or the Technician might say

it was not on the Print Out Work Sheet.)

Basically a Minor Service is the Oil & Filter, Fluids checked so Brake Fluid if checked, Washer Fluid Topped up,

then lubing locks, hinges, and a Health Check & reports, so look see, check tyres, pressures, wipers.

& what ever the place doing it says you get so ask.

Body inspection, Report.

Major Inspection service, the same, Pollen Filter Changed, Maybe Air Filter each 2nd Major Service.

Spark Plugs maybe.

Brake Fluid at 3 years then each 2, maybe, so first time at a Minor Service / first MOT time.

Ask who is doing it what is getting done, and replaced for the money charged.

PS

If at a Major Service the A/C is being checked the Service Desk Staff should wait before trying to upsell the A/C service.

& slight corrosion of discs should not show as 80% worn discs, recommend replacing them....

Many thanks for all that.

I'll book it in and let's see how it goes - and how much it costs in practice.

Maybe £270 ish.  Ask what they are doing.

But what does yours need by Mileage & age,

Is it due the Brake Fluid Change, extra charge, do you want the A/C service, extra charge. etc
