Hunter's Alignment

Featured Replies

I've got 4 new tyres being delivered today and have much the same issue at the rear uneven wear. So full geometry setup required. Can anyone recommend anyone a bit nearer to Carlisle?

Had the tracking done at my local garage. They've got the hunter thing with the print out.
Any how the rear axel was all over the place but the front wernt that far out. Mind you the near side front tyre was a bit down on pressuire which probley didn't help!

I mean no disrespect to you or the garage, but this is the kind of result I'm aiming to avoid, assuming you mean the bit in bold was post alignment? Too many times have I been told by garages that rear alignment can't be adjusted, when, even with my limited knowledge, I know fine well that it can be.  My rear wheels are VERY out. 2500k/30mph droning is doing my head in and tyre wear is moderate to high.

Sometimes the rear cannot be adjusted due to seized bushes on the adjuster bolt. Happened to me despite two weeks of liberal doses of Plusgas.

I hope that's not the case for mine.  If this tyre drone doesn't do one, I'll be pulling the B12s off and selling the heffer.

Just got the car back. New tyres fitted and Hunter's alignment performed.

Here are the results. https://goo.gl/photos/ds2843dHtNnNtkm17

The car drives much better. Steering is lighter and the car is no longer slowing down as much when foot off the accelerator. How do the values look for a bilstein b12 set up?

My local quick is advertising Hunters alignment. I have uneven tyre wear on the rears so was thinking of going there.

If quick is followed by "fit", stay clear ;)

Yeah, sorry that should have been kwikfit

Personal experience, but I'd stay well clear.  Many will agree, some won't of course.

Cheers. I am near Bristol. It is the Keynsham one that is advertising it.

i can recommend a really good guy in Bristol near Feeder road. All he does is alignment. He specialises in it. Does lots of high performance cars and drifting cars too. He set mine up to accommodate my driving style and range of loads carried. PM me if you want his details.

As I've said before.  Disregard the machine and look at the reputation of the technician.

They adjusted the toe at the front.

Maybe, just maybe, they adjusted the LH rear toe as well but I doubt it.

Rear cambers are within spec but I have them more upright if the adjustment was available.

Yeah I did wonder about the little adjustment at the back, and I did ask to have them set as vertical as possible.  Would you say that the alignment is acceptable though? The handling and noise have improved vastly since having it  done, but I guess part of that is having new tyres.

I did around 20k miles on my previous Octavia before actually getting round to having the alignment checked.

Was never completely happy with how it drove.

Rear tyres were wearing on the inside edge, car would pull left or right slightly, steering wheel ever so slightly off centre and felt very light/twitchy doing 100mph+ on the autobahn.

After hunting around for somewhere decent nearby I found a place in Castleford, Yorkshire. Had some new tyres fitted and drove across:

Found a few good comments on various forums.

The tech first came to have a chat with me to ask about any problems I was having and then they had the car about an hour and made a few adjustments, gave me the printout and charged a base set fee then a little for the adjustments. Think it was £54 in total. Not bad I thought for Hunter Alignment.

The car was spot-on after that and was so for another 20k miles.

I emailed my a local repair centre today for a quote to align my vrs. They came back with £96 including vat. Seems a little steep but they are very handy for me as they'll need the car left with them for a few hours. Talking to a few mates that have used them they come highly recommended so wouldn't mind the price. Still need to fit the rear bump stops and new tyres though!!

It's acceptable but I would prefer as close to -1 as possible.

Maybe they tried and the adjusters were seized or maybe the adjusters were at their maximum anyway.

Update on mine. Rear bump stops fitted yesterday and tyres too. Booked into the repair centre today and results are in. I'll try and post before and after. Car is totally transformed. Steering wheel back in the centre as it should and after removing those mullered rears so much quieter. Please let me know if the results are any good.
