Featured Replies

Hello every one ,

my problem started month ago .

First :

i have Skoda Octavia Combi 2012 DSG 6 speed trans.

its Running 100,000 Km.

changed Trans oil 3 Times ( 25K , 50K , 75K and yesterday @ 100K )

Problem Started Before Changing The oil and i thought its cause oil need Change

The Problem : -1st Gear Ok

-2nd Gear ( jerking or judder ) i cant realy explane how it feels like but it look like the gear not                                 working correctly . ( it became less if gear oil become 75~80 digree ) and hard if oil temp above                      85 . If The weather cold the jerking will be harder and like dual jerking

                        - 3rd Gear is ok . Slight or very slight jerk

-4rth Gear is ok but not ok sometimes if i shift down from 6th to 4th only but if i shift 5th to 4th                              its ok .

                         - 5th gear ok

                         - 6th gear is ok .

i did the following :

Checked with VCDS ( only oxygen Sensor Bank one need to be replaced .bank 1 )

i checked each valve throw VCDS all working Fine ! .

i check all mounts and the bottom gear mount and the arm . all very good

reset the car nothing

changed the oil again nothing

and because its out of warranty the company asked me to leave it for 3 or 4 days and i cant its my only car using daily .

and plus Gulf Area ( Qatar ) the have the bad'est and poor technicians on the world so honestly i cant trust them judgment

i dont know what i can do more . i love my car and i need to fix it somehow !! ..

no one in all my country can Reprogram The Skoda or DSG .

company can but still am not sure if it need programming or what exactly !

Thanks ! ..

Hello

Who did the oil changes. You, or the garage?

Have you considered the flywheel (DMF) being the problem? Any rattling?

i just call company they told my car have no flywheel or clutches =\ . its called torque converter .. it coast about 5000 USD without fixing

FYI . Engine is 1.6 MPI combi.

Any IDEA Please !! .

The 1.6 engines did not use the DSG. So your technician is correct. Your car does not have a flywheel or clutches but rather a torque converter.

It's a 6 speed tiptronic gearbox.

Is it possible to check what oil the garage have been using in the gearbox?

WAW NO ANSWER ! .. THANKS FOR NOTHING !.

Sounds like the torque converter. Is it the same when manually changing gear.

yeas same .

thanks you ,

So it's been doing it ever since before 25k?

I was asking about the oil as a lot of garages use the wrong oil! Partly down to parts suppliers as Euro Car Parts lists the entirely wrong gear oil for my car which would actually cause damage if I used it.

If they've been using the wrong oil all along then it will have damaged the box.

It could either be the torque converter or the solenoids/valve body but you say you have checked those.

thanks phil,

the problem started since 80K

and for the oil i always buy from Skoda supplier only .

Valves via VCDS are ok .

oil Temp is normal (80~95)

the converter cant be checked somehow ?

if no , i already take an appointment with supplier next Sunday , checking coast is 200 USD !

hopfully the told me what is the issue !.

There is no torque converter in a DSG transmission.  They are dual clutch manual with mechatronic control.

Your problem sounds like Dual Mass Flywheel or Clutch Pack to me. I am not sure how you would narrow it down before removal though. Either of those faults will require transmission removal.

When you say you checked VCDS, you ran full VCDS scans and the only fault was the oxygen sensor and nothing else is now showing?

That is the most insight I can offer, some else with first hand experience who reads this maybe able to offer more.

Patience is a virtue, my friend!

In other words 'give us a chance', especially as people have already tried to help, like myself.

If you read the whole post bud, you will see we were misinformed about it having a DSG box.

Hence why the conversation has gone away from the DMF to the torque converter.
