Front windshield wipers

Featured Replies

Hi

I have any issue with my front windshield wipers working intermittently.

I can eventually get them to run in fast speed after driving for a few minutes but will constantly stop and then wont start again when I turn them off.

I have replaced the motor, checked the linkage, replaced the CCU but still the same fault.

I checked voltage at the connector block to the motor and can only seem to get 6V?,however I can then plug it back in and it works sometimes?

Surely it needs to be 12V?

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Maybe the wiper switch?

I would double check the fuses. I had a similar issue and it was one of the 3 fuses that control it.

Thanks for the replies. I will try and check the switch.

I will replace all 3 fuses aswell.

Could be a earthing issue

I can't remember if the motor is earthed with a separate earth cable on the mounting point?

If not and it's earthed through the multiplug/loom you can try putting a temporary earth wire from the multiplug to the body of the car

The fuses haven't changed anything unfortunately.

I will try a temporary earth lead from the plug.

Does anyone know how to test the stork?

Can the plug connector be taken apart and the terminals removed?

When you say you've changed the CCU, which unit do you mean, the one that looks like this, or the one that looks like this?:

Hi

The first one. the eBay item pic.

Is that the right one?

Don't think so, no.

I'll just check some wiring diagrams, but I don't think the ebay link one has anything to do with the wipers.

The one you've changed out is mostly concerned with the door locking systems; no function to do with the wipers as far as I can see.

Quick update

Replaced the unit shown in the picture above, works now!

Thanks wino for the info.

All the searching I had previously done seemed to point at the unit above the clutch pedal as shown in the eBay pic above.
