Uninstalling Programs / Clearing Cache & Cookies Windows 7

Featured Replies

Hoping to speed up my laptop a little and with 2.03GB total size / 87 programs is this anything I should even bother with????????

Biggest I can see is MS Silverlight @596MB. I have no idea if I need / use this or not?

Computer = OS(C:) 209GB free of 279GB.............DATA(D:) 204GB free of 394GB

Re uninstalling Programs.....How do I know which are safe to remove (not required) and which I need to keep?

Ok, some are obvious to me but others not so, and I fear removing something important without realising I need / use it.

(an indication of my ignorance - I use Adobe Acrobat Reader, but do not know how I got hold of it - unless it is or was free?).

1. Why do some not have a 'size' given? (eg Avast, MS office and HP stuff).

2. I have MS office click to run and MS Office starter although the Office ctr maybe a trial version iirc which I cannot access (so assume I can remove this). Starter seems good enough for me anyway, although neither of these have a 'size'.

3. again, is there anything specific that I shouldn't remove that may not be obvious - to a non IT guy.

Also any advice clearing cache and cookies? Does doing this remove my stored 'log in' details? for instance, and any other similar questions you can think of, answered, would be appreciated.

Cheers.

As posted in your other thread, the issues are likely to be hardware over anything else.

Tgat said I would remove anything you really don't need to be on there. You can accumulate a lot of junk apps over time.
