Body repair

Featured Replies

I have a ding in my offside front wing. It was present when I bout the car and I'm considering the purchase of a new wing rather than trying to repair it. I've just had a new windscreen fitted and I'm worried that the top of the wing may be in contact with the windscreen and I wouldn't like to break the seal. Anyone replaced a front wing who my be able to advise me?

Can't say I have ever removed the wing but I would be very surprise if it would affect any seals of the windscreen. The panel will sit over a seal perhaps but should be removable without touching any seals.

Second hand panels can be picked up, even in the correct colour if you are patient, for very reasonable prices these days.

Hopefully someone will be along soon that has experience in removing wings :)

Swapped my pass one over when first got car,and no it doesn't touch the windscreen seal.

The hardest, and most dangerous part of removing a wing is cutting through the adhesive holding the wing onto the door pillar.

It's a seam sealer/PU type adhesive that needs cutting through with a sharpened scraper or a Stanley knife etc.

There isn't a lot of it to cut through but if you try pulling at the wing before you have cut through it completey you will kink/damage the wing
