Painting grill and badges

Featured Replies

Having had a rummage around the threads I've decided to colour code my grill surround rather than the black I have now.

I've bought a second grill to use and plan to do it myself. Got a few questions though.

Is there only one race blue or is it a case of getting the paint code off the car and where is best to get it made up? Any brands people recommend and I assume I'll need grey primer and clear gloss lacquer, anyone know how many cans roughly of each?

I want the new style black and chrome badges but will be painting them Monte Carlo style. Anyone know the codes for badges that will fit front and back (just the centre ones)? Anyone know what paint to go for? Is there a specific Monte Carlo colour or black magic or just any gloss black?

Many thanks

The code Skoda use when they order a car from the factory with Race Blue metallic is 8X8X, the code you need to give to a paint supplier is 9463.

Also Skoda to a touch-up pen as HFB380084 and a spray can.

The easiest and surest way of getting the best match is to give Skoda your chassis number.

take it to a proper painter, give him the paint code, disassemble the grill and remove the badge.

when its painted reassemble and fit new genuine badge.

personally i think its worth the time and expense to do the job properly rather than rattle can or plastidip.

it cost me an hours time,£40 for the professional paint job and about £12.99 for the new style genuine badge

All I can say is mine is as perfect as the day it was painted other than a stone chip.

No issues whatsoever
