Turbo away for actuator setup

Featured Replies

Still having issues with driveability and engine running after actuator replacement.

Very poor acceleration to 2000rpm then very fluttery to 2500rpm then full boost from 2500rpm and accelerates normally. Drives not too bad but a bit juddery if taking it easy buzzing around town.

Tuning shop discovered DPF very full and EGR filthy. This was checked a few months ago and DPF was pretty empty so poor running and EGR seems to have accelerated the DPF being filled.

After tuning company advice, DPF has now been cleaned, EGR cleaned and new DPF pressure sensor fitted. Cost a fortune to get these done. Still has running issues.

Tuning company will now take turbo off and send away to have it setup on flow bench as it still seems actuator is not set correctly. Thankfully they said they won't charge us for this which is really good of them. They are keen to get to the bottom of the issue and fix the problem.

Should get the car back in a few days and hopefully it is fixed.

It's been a great car until this happened.

Dose the cr vrs suffer with gunked up inlet manifold swirl flaps from the dirty egr  like the pd vrs ?this can cause low down running and accelerating problems.

Don't think it has swirl flaps but not 100% sure. Anyone know?

Hi whats the engine code?

Why was the actuator replaced was it set up correctly. Have never found egr cleaning to work for long. Turbo pressure sensors do fail. All seems a bit hit and miss for a tuning company. Any codes present?

The main error was 0299. I eventually traced an issue with the actuator and replaced it. Adjusted to as near the old one as possible but although the limp mode stopped, it had the acceleration issues as described above. Put into tuning place for diag and actuator seemed to be in correct range but suggested N75 valve. Changed to new one and got limp mode and 0299 but only did it once. Back in for diag and DPF issue found. Booked back in for DPF clean and asked them to clean EGR too. Slightly better but still same acceleration issues. They spoke to the turbo company the use and advised bench setup. They are doing that now. No other symptoms or errors to guide where the fault is but actuator is the only thing changed that made a difference. The original had no vac resistance so diaghram seems perished.

You set the actuator up via resistance even in the same place can be miles out.

We put it in to a local tuning place to get it setup but it was just the same when we got it back. I thought it was another fault. We eventually took it to another tuning place that are working on it now. Hopefully it being setup on the bench by turbo specialists sorts it.

Well it turns out that the actuator is set ok but the turbo is in a bit of a carbon mess and there is damage on the shaft. They are now doing a full refurb on it. That's another load of cash on top of a small fortune already. seriously becoming unhappy with the problem after problem.

Full turbo refurb seems to have fixed the problem now. Suspect an EGR issue has carboned up the DPF and turbo on top of the actuator issue. cost a fortune to get everything done but hopefully no problems for a while now. They also did an oil and filter change as part of the turbo refurb warranty.

Car seems to run/drive fine but has had elevated tickover revs like it's trying to do a regen a few times in just a few days. Cruised it up the motorway today and it's back to normal tickover.

Will monitor it over the next few weeks.

Sounds like an epic adventure to get the turbo all operating ok and re-calibrated. I didn't realise how sensitive to setting up a stock unit they could be, hope it is sorted now.

It's been a real pain. The actuator seems to have been ok but it is looking like the EGR may have been causing the DPF and turbo to carbon up really quickly. Had it on the dyno a few months ago and everything was spot on. DPF was fine etc. A while after that it started going into limp mode and I eventually found the actuator was faulty. Suspect the EGR was also playing a part in the issues at this point too.

The only consistent error was 0299 but nothing for the EGR or DPF.

Had a decent run with the car up to the highlands for a few days. Just filled the tank back up and achieved 56.3 mpg calculated. That's the best it's ever been. Seemed to be running ok whilst away so hope it's really fixed.
