Radio mute

Featured Replies

A mute sign (loudpeaker with a dagonal line across) has appeared on the screen, top right, and the radio and CD is muted.  Nothing in the book of words about this.  Also, it is no longer possible to scan for stations (I tried reverting to factory settings) and now the reversing screen is on the blink.   Has it lost its mind or is there as simple solution?

Mine puts a similar symbol near top left when muted by pressing the Phone button. Try pressing your phone button to see if it clears it

Yes, sorry, top left.   No, that does not help.  Also, unable to switch on when the ignition is off.    Software or hardware I wonder?  Perhaps next thing is to disconnect/reconnect the battery?    Or re-enter the code???

Also, unable to switch on when the ignition is off.

That suggest you have only the switched supply going to the radio and not also the unswitched supply. Confirmed if you have lost station setup.

From my driver's handbook, it looks like the unswitched is via F8 in the engine compartment and the switched is via F28 in the normal fuse location at the right hand side of the dashboard. Pages 212-213 in my 2012 handbook.

Which radio?

It's the mute symbol.  Try pressing the volume / onoff button lightly once.  If the symbol disappears and there's still no sound then try turning up the volume.  (I've had this happen before)

Bolero.

I think pikpilot may have it as sometimes the reverse picture does not appear though the beep sounds so I suspect the power supply is at fault.  I'll look once the storm is past!

Well, stap me!    It would not start yesterday so I charged the battery and now everything works again.    These modern cars are just too dam complicated.  I'll stick to my vintage Lancias.   Anyway, thanks for the help.
