My boot door won't open :( (hatch)

Hello,

I'm having a problem where the boot door of my car won't open unless it's done using the keyfob. Both the buttons on the boot lid don't work, whether it's half the boot or the whole thing. Some one crashed into the back of me 2 years ago, the car was fixed at a main VW dealer. Could this be due to some worn down wires, that might have been misplaced when fixing the vehicle? any other ideas? It's driving me nuts!

There is also lots of problems with the boot locks on VAG cars. My wife's touran boot would refuse to shut at times. I took a gamble and replaced the lock which has a motor attached. Its held in by 2 bolts and a plug and was easy to change. The £45 gamble paid off and we have had no issues since.
