Radio Codes

Featured Replies

Selling my Skoda Bolero unit so needed to get a code for it! I should of just used the auto electrician that took it out but completely fogot!

Was in Newcastle today so thought I'd call into Lookers Skoda to quickly sort it!

Well… what a complete waist of 2 hours! First they said it had to be in the car to go through the cars computer so had to take the sat nav back out to replum the Bolero. Half an hour after it dissapeared the receptionist got a phone call saying the Bolero didn't fit!!!!

Well of course is doesn't, the fascia to the rns510 is completely different!! Then they asked which unit wanted recording!!! Surely that's not rocket science!

After a little explanation the receptionist seemed to get what was going on and all went quiet.

Over an hour later with my little lad getting very board I asked how long it was going to take? Another phone call made and she said it was ready, just it was getting a wash had hoover as part of there winter service, a nice touch I thought!

Another half hour later the keys returned and all was ready. At this point I thought it would have been a 10 minute job and I was now thinking how much are they gonna charge for waisting my time?

Turns out £30 inc vat!!!!!!!!

Then she walks me out to my car and said I quote " all nice and clean". WTF! She needed to go to specsavers a good few times, the sills hadn't been cleaned inside or out, wheels hadn't been washed properly, hoovering was minimal and when they'ed washed it with what ever **** they had used they hadn't even whipped it down!

THEN… as I was getting my boy into the car she said they will email me a customer survey to put down what I thought of the service, she remarked " 10 out of 10".

YEH RIGHT!!!!!!!!

Worst of all when I bought the car I paid top dollar and got two free services included. Great I thought at the time. I bought it in Guildford but my nearest Lookers would do!

Oh ****, I have to deal with them again, TWICE!!!

Be carful with dealers, some of them don't have a clue, its just a job to them. I'm now thinking of going back to Vastech Darlington VAG specialists where my golf gti went for years. At least they gave a ****!!!

Rant over!

Phil

PS. Bolero for sale, with code!!!!!!

Slightly off topic.

4 years ago when I purchased my 05 1.6 FSI I took it to a Royal Leamington Franchise so they could code a second key as it only came with one.

When I rang to confirm the appointment I made it clear time was tight as I had a medical appointment that I could not be late for or miss as a Trip abroad was reliant on it being favorable for insurance cover.

Arrived re affirmed my need for a quick visit and handed the key over.

When I inquired about the hold up I was informed that the vehicle check and valet had not been completed.

I called for the manager and stated my need that I needed the car in 10 minutes or else I would be late for an appointment I had informed them about twice.

I told him that when I agreed to the appointment I was not informed of the vehicle check and valet he said that it was what they did for all work carried out by them.

I insisted they return my car there and then otherwise I would take the matter higher if they caused me to miss my appointment and then my chance to fly abroad.

He said they had no record of my appointment when the receptionist whispered to him and then showed him that there was.

At this I received my keys and the bill was paid within 5 minutes and I was given a voucher for a full comprehensive valet.

A few weeks later when I returned to the UK I took the offer of the vallet up.

A good job was done and they had changed their protocol and now informed all who had work done that they offered a free vehicle check and valet if people wanted.

Result.

Sorry for the rant but It annoys me to this day.

You could of got one off eBay for £10 and save you the hassle.

I've had codes from a seller on ebay. Very good service. I'm sure it was emailed within 24hours. I personally will never ever take my car to my local Skoda dealer. After the mess i seen inside my sump with excess sealant after an oil pump replacement they did I'm surprised that wasn't an engine failure!!

I would agree with Mike, although if you intend to keep the car a few years I wouldn't bother.

The Octavia mk2 will be worth much less as will the columbus and bolero

And if you upgrade to a mk3 Octavia it won't fit that
