can my local vw dealer program in my new key fobs or will it have to go to a skoda dealer for this?

i was under the impression that all vag cars use the same software???

am i way off on this one?

They do have the same kinda set up but Skoda is some way behind stil using the four digit code. If you have the code then they may well be able to do it for you manually.

its my local vw dealer andthey are replacing the complete locking system as my car was stolen with the keys including the clear plastic tag that contains all the key code info.

the car was supposed to be ready today but they called at the 11th hour to tell me it now wont be done till wednesday as it now has to go 12 miles down the road to the local skoda dealer and they cant program it wednesday.

call me suspicious but after being put off week after week for a completion date it seemed like yet another stalling tactic!!!!

They wont be able to code it. They cant get the security code for you car. Only a Skoda dealer will be able to get that.

thats kind of re assuring to know that i'm not being messed around.

so is it the code for my car they will need cos i gave that to them when i dropped the car off!!!
