Mk1 Fabia VRS - Key Coding Near Warwick

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I recently bought a 2006 Mk1 VRS for the wife, which unfortunately only came with one key.

I have an old key from the previous VRS which is no longer. I've got a replacement blade for it, but I now need a new transponder coding for it for the immobiliser.

Does anyone know of anyone near Warwick that can do it for a reasonable cost?

Many thanks in advance!

I've seen a few ads around Bedworth from Coventry locksmiths ( and heard from breakdown firms - AA/RAC) about doing it at a lot less than the main dealers. I've even had a quote locally ( Nuneaton) of £40 for a chipped key, from a foreign locksmith. Original quote was for a non chipped key at £15, but this included a chip, and price with chip working came to £40 .I've not been back as £40 at moment is a lot of dosh- but might be worth a trip.

Hi VWD,

Thanks for the info.

I'll do some digging around to see who I can find.

If anyone else does know of someone good and local, please let me know!

Cheers

You can also ask in one of the Timpson branches. I know the one in Sainsbury in Hinckley does it and other larger Timpsons also do it, but price wuth/without chiping is around £100

I'm watching this as I only have one key and need to get another so please let us know how you get on.

Transponder from hickleys, cost is not much

Blade cut, circa £15 ish laser cut

Someone to help code the transponder. You could drive to me and I'd have a go for free ( no warrantees or guarantees)

Can't recall the transponder required though, may need to search on here to find the right one ? It was ages ago I did mine.

Hi vRSAnt,,

Thanks for the reply.

I've got a blade cut already, it is just the transponder I need sorting.

I've got a couple of places to call tomorrow to see if they can do it, and if so how much, and I'll go from there, but I may well take you up on your offer!

Thanks again
