Problem tapping noise

Featured Replies

Hey!

I have this tapping sound in my octavia 3 2.0TDI dsg. On left side when viewed from the front.  The sound occurs at 65 degrees, and disappear somewhere at 70 degrees. It can be something related to the DPF filter?

Another question I have, how do you know if the DPF filter was removed?

Large service has been made.

Nobody? woow

I would imagine that not many people stand at the front of their cars for the 20 seconds it takes the temperature to increase from 65 to 70 degrees.

Sorry 50-55c to 70c

I can hear the tapping noise on your video.

It is very faint though over the usual noise of the engine.

Can it be heard from inside the cabin or when stood next to the car?

Does the sound literally only start at 50 degrees Celsius and then disappear at 70 degrees Celsius?

My car does make some unusual sounds when cold, especially if it is very cold (close to or below freezing) but as with your car they quickly vanish once it has been running for a minute or two.

Hello!

The interior of the car can not hear the sound.
If I step out of the car sound is heard.
It sounds from somewhere around 50-55c and at 70c disappears. I am talking about the oil temperature.

When the engine is cold it does not her sound to 50c

It sounds to me that it is deliberate then. For it only to start at a certain temperature might suggest the opening of the various thermostats and heating / cooling systems or the EGR, or like you say other emission control systems such as the DPF.

If you are still worried I'd be sharing your video footage with a Skoda main dealer.

Thanx:)

Pleas yes,share the video:)

When the car heated to 90c, and is then cooled to 60C, this sound is again back.

I noticed something, attach a picture. Is it normal that there is only one tube?

And in terms of temperature-In the morning when I go to work, the temperature rises to 60C when rise to 60c, then drops to 50c and then gets normal to 90c. Is this normal?

Get a garage to check the water pump and aux belt tension pulley.

Everything is changed..all new.

You seems to have uniquely personal concerns. If the noises are transitory and not getting worse and can only be heard from the outside try not to worry and accept things. You have been given advice. If everything has really been changed and is all new then not much more can be done except relax.

No idea what that is or if it is "OK". Was it always in that position or did you put it there ?

Perhaps it is to do with an auxiliary engine heater that has been fitted?

And thanks to the above link it looks like your device is not "OK". A hose seems to be missing if the car is intended to be operating in standard mode.

I would also not leave those components in such a potentially hot area above the manifold.

I would ask an expert if the DPF has been disabled.
