Dashcam Hard wiring via fusebox - Which one?

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

Recently acquired a dash cam and it came with a cigarette adapter type power cable.

Seeing as the cigarette lighter is always Live on a vRS, I have used a hardwire kit into the fuse box.

Now, my issue:

I've piggy backed off of fuse number F42 which is the audio as my stereo only comes on when ignition is on.

Unfortunately the dash cam seems to keep on charging when using F42 fuse slot, which I find strange. (Assume it would remove power like the stereo)

Is the stereo fuse power timed? I.e. after 10 mins it'll cut off?

I need a fuse slot that only becomes live and removes power when the ignition is on/off... Can anyone help?

Cheers,

Jamie.

Ignore the last, I've solved my own question.

I assumed that my stereo was a switched live, but obviously not.

So I've used the rear wiper slot and it works as it should, turns on with ignition and turns off (onto internal battery) once ignition is off.

i was about to suggest rear wiper as this is the one i use on my mk2 :)
