Skoda Octavia MKI radio issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys, been having some issues with my radio lately eversince i changed it to an aftermarket alpine. The leads all fit as standard and did not need any adpaters ect. Problem occured when i found that there is 2 perma live 12+.... 1 ignition apparently(checking it with ignition on and off regardless its still always reading 12+) and battery feed for memory which is also always live.

The light doesnt come on anymore after the key is ejected from the steering column and my laptop no longer reads the car with vagcom... any ideas? much appreciated for any replies cheers

@edit: does anyone also know how to get the code back for the standard stereo? I called coventry listers skoda and they told me they need to plug the car in and for a 25quid charge theyll get the code for me.. any other ways of doing so ?

Onlineradiocodes.co.uk are very good. Or there are sellers on eBay usually about £8.99. If it's original though car should recognise it ? If needed I have a stereo with code if you want it.

Some aftermarket stereos pull the "K" diagnostic line down so causing no communications, check the Grey/White wire on pin 3 of the power plug, if it's connected to your new unit, disconnect it, then you should get VCDS/Vagcom back

Thanks for the replies gentlemen.

I will have a look at the wires today and see what is what again.

@VrsMule thanks for the info mate, I will look into it and see about the code, i might just try and sort out the aftermarket as I'll be doing a sound system soon :)
