vRS oil changes

Featured Replies

Do you guys have the oil changed on the only as part of a service, or given the 'brisk' driving manner and tuned state of most Octys on here - do you change the oil and filter more regulalry? My mate, a non-Skoda mech, advised doing so every 6 months to help keep the engine in the best nick poss. Thoughts?

I personally do an oil change on the Octy every 6 months/5,000 miles but saying that ive always done that on all my cars even my little Fiesta 1.25! :o

It can only do good so for around

My 4X4 is on variable servicing but my annual mileage is low and I don't drive my car hard hence servicing and oil changes come around every 24 months. Changing LongLife oil more frequently than indicated by the variable servicing indicator defeats one of its purposes - which is to reduce oil disposal to the benefit of the environment.

My dad had one of the first Range Rovers in 1971. He changed the oil every 1,000 miles, religiously. But then, he towed yatchs to the south of France so maybe it needed it.

6k changes on an engine that was designed to do 20k is pointless and a waste of your money even if its mapped, if you stick to the 0/30 longlife oil spec your engine will have no problems, i changed at about 15k but i do only 6 miles to work and 6 miles back.

If you owned an old cossie or somthing that was designed in the 80s then yes do service every 4-6k as the engines back then weren't as clean running therfore oil breaks down quicker.

If you want the best protection try finding a supplier of Lucas oil syn stabilizer

its american and is by far the best additive on the market place

P/no 10130 look at (www.lucasoil.com)
