Sat Nav Re-Set

Featured Replies

Is there a way to factory reset the DX Nav unit ? Want to clear the previous address entries. Also the system is really slow to update vehicle position and says a 2 mile trip is going to take 7 hrs !

The system is getting GPS data as the co-ordinates are correct and on info mode with the compass it reads correct and changes as the car changes direction. The info mode on map display only updates every couple of minutes at best and on guidance even though it says the route has been calculated the blue line never appears (did appear once). Any ideas ? Could it be the disc or perhaps a dusty unit as it has been sat ?

The only thing I found was before I connected the wheel speed signal from the "Gala" Blue/White wire on pin 1 of the power plug to pin 5 or 18 of the 26 pin connector, it would only update the position about every 10 mins, the speed signals are meant to come from the ABS unit pins 8 & 10 but I read you could connect it to the "Gala" signal and that meant not having to find a way through the bulkhead

So is it a vehicle compatibility issue ? Sounds complicated ?

Mines an 03 model and the Nav unit is a "B" spec so I connected the "Gala" signal to the Left input on the 26 pin nav connector, and it now constantly updates the position

How do I do that ?

Tee into the "Gala" wire on pin 1 and connect that to the left input pin of the 26 pin connector (LHF) also make sure there is a 12v supply on pin 4 of the 26 pin connector as this powers the nav units gyro

Will that cable on the other thread sort this out ?

Yeah without the wheel speed input and power to the internal gyro, that the adapter on your other post will provide, the unit will only update it's position every 10 mins and be totally useless

Ordered ! Thanks for all the assistance. Appreciated.

It's a s*ite design what other satnav needs to know the wheels are moving before updating the position, I'd of thought the changing Lat/Long position from the GPS aerial would of been more than enough evidence the car was moving ??? but without that signals it will only update it's position every 5~10 mins so making it useless !!!

Even since retrofitting mine, I still use my TomTom stuck to the windscreen, it's up to date with any new roads etc  and it works Bluetooth with my phone :)
