Regarding the new MOT test. It will be a requirement that if your car has stop/start that it is in working order. It will be tested. But I'm not sure when that comes in as it's not my department to know that stuff anymore. It's what some of my tech colleagues are saying.

@punyXpress  What actual 'new rules' are affecting South Yorkshire, or Law or EU Legislation are you talking about?

Is it Austerity in their procurement department.

Police Scotland have some lovely high performance 'New WLTP' certificated vehicles.

V90 Volvo T8 Hybrids are quite nippy.

Volvo V70 T6 get along quite well with just around 300ps.

There are new procurement rules for local authorities that are coming in soon or have already been enacted, for example in London. All new vehicles have to be able to meet new clean air regs. In London, the police and ambulance service alone will have to replace their entire fleet to comply otherwise they have to pay the new clean air charge which is a horrendous amount of money. There is no exemption for service vehicles. I expect puny is referring to stuff like that.

Have South Yorkshire been able to get any nice quick heavy vehicles recently for Armed Response etc?

There will be exceptions in London including the Metropolitan Police Force.

There will be gas guzzlers for Diplomatic Protection, Royal Protection, Prime Minister / Home Secretary Protection and many others.

TESLA or even Porsche SUV's will not do the job as armoured vehicles, as with vehicles for the Special Forces / Terrorist Response vehicles.

There are no exemptions for the police and ambulance service. Most other vehicles are not exempt either.
