SE SPORTS AUTO WIPERS?

Featured Replies

Hi all, only had my se sports a few days now and all going great, I am fairly sure I have auto wipers but today it rained and they failed to operate, lights are set to auto, do I need to adjust anything else to get them to operate?

Wiper stalk needs to be in the intermittent position and it should work automatically. You can adjust the sensitivity with the rocker switch on top of the stalk.

But that turns them on when not raining as if I switched them on in a car without auto wipers. Will have to give it another try.

If the system is as mine in the FL, then the position above OFF is the AUTO setting. If the wipers start up continuously then you have simply moved the switch too far. I hope this works.

My MkIII SE (standard) only has intermittent wipers which are just as good/bad as the auto wipers were.

The only other thing to check is the car setup in the infotainment system. I think there's a checkbox for auto wipers in there.

The auto wipers setting replaces the standard intermittent setting on cars without auto wipers.

The wipers should only turn on when the screen isn't wet if you turn them onto 'constant' or 'fast constant'.

Your opening post mentions you had the light switch set to 'Auto' but did you have the wiper stalk set to 'Auto'?

Automatic wipers is the first notch up from 'off', it is marked with the bar chart...

Remember to turn them off after each journey, if the screen freezes overnight and they try to wipe before you've had a chance to defrost the wipers you'll damage them. Easier said than done if it stops raining well before the end of your journey though.

Awesome...15 litres delivered to my door for £7.01.

Thanks for that

Thanks for all the help, think it should work from now on. Done as silver 1101 suggested again and looks good.

Make sure you don't miss out on the screen wash offer http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/420938-screen-wash-5-litre-triple-qx/

The wipers shouldn't activate when restarted until you reach a certain speed. This is to stop the above.

I just took the warning from the manual...

  • In cold temperatures and during the winter, check before switching on the ignition that the wiper blades are not frozen to the windscreen. If the windscreen wipers are switched on when the blades are frozen to the windscreen, this may damage both the blades and windscreen wiper motor.
