Replaced headlight bulbs

Featured Replies

I bought some 50% brighter bulbs months ago but was put off by members saying how difficult it was so I only just got around to fitting them.

Well it took me about 30min including some faffing around I don't know what all the fuss was about. Drivers side was easy steering full lock to the left, pulled arch liner access panel out, twisted the bulb, changed over and twisted it back in to position. Passenger side i didn't take the arch liner panel out (the tool started to bend I was pulling that hard), so I just removed the battery and again twisted the bulb out.. very easy, maybe I have very thin hands... but they are rather large...

The colour still looks yellowy but that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't better.. I might upgrade the full beam to some branded bulbs to get a better effect. These are only Neolux (I think they're called) but after a bit of research they are made by Osram and only cost about £7.50 from the clearance section from ECP with a discount code and going through topcashback.com

I was gong to say I'm more than happy to help anyone out if they're local to oakham!

Happy new year to everyone!

You're lucky the twist out bulb fittings are much so  easier to replace that the older style bulbs that have a spring clip that requires the electrical connector to be removed first. I think its the difference between projector (twist) on the higher spec models and non-projector (clip) on the 'S' and 'SE' spec models

If you remember being able to change both headlight bulbs quicker than you could type the instructions as to how...

I was looking for a spring clip ha

It wasn't until I actually read the owners manual that it was a twist style, I've never had a car with a twist style bulb holder before

Didn't realise the lower spec cars had a different fitting, well i'm glad I've got projector lights

I disconnect the whole headlight for bulb changes, makes everything so much easier.. takes a couple of minutes..

How do you remove the light? I would've thought the bumper would've had to come off?
