i have an issue with my vrs and im now lost.

about 2 weeks ago i drove my normal commute home parked the car up when i went to it the next morning it would crank but wouldnt fire. the glow plug light was flashing.

so i have changed the heater plugs and still done the same. so i changed the glow plug heater relay as it wasnt working. and it still wont fire and the light still flashes.

if i bump the car it will start and continue to start for the rest of the day. im lost as there seems to be no power to the heater plugs.

im now thinking maybe it could be the temp sensor giving incorrect readings?

but im at a complete loss any help or advice would be appreciated

Crank sensor at a guess. A fault code reader is your best friend!

 

Does the rev counter needle move when cranking?

 

(and for future reference, the glow plug light does not necessarily mean a fault with glow plugs, very confusing I know)

thanks for the reply... no the needles dont move at all.. as i say once bumped and warm the car will start.. an ah i didnt know that so may be barking up the wrong tree with the heater plug issue

what i did do was bridge the heater plugs and put a button on from a straight live from the battery and it started up then which leads me to think it is heater plug related tho i may be wrong. im new to pd engines and im at a real loss now

That sounds like crank sensor or maybe glow plug control box. I think it's a VCDS job to determine which.

Glow plug light doubles as a general warning light. Roughly it indicates an electrical issue. As above unlikely to be glow plug related. I

Get it scanned for faults, otherwise your just going to end up guessing and randomly replacing parts.

its being scanned later so hopefully it will get sorted

p0230 was the code but fuel pump is priming fine
