I bought a 2002 Fabia 1.4 mpi in Crete last year with around 82k on the clock. The engine management light was on when purchased but it runs well. Diagnostics at the local garage indicate an ignition problem but no more detail. The car has a Champion coil pack. Could this be the cause?

I can't think of much else, so yes, it could.  Worth checking the state of the sparkplugs as a first, free, step?

Plugs have been changed so not them.

I presume this is a car with double-end coils and HT leads, not one with 4 coil packs? If so, when were the HT leads last replaced?

I am not sure what the engine has and I am in the UK at present. I don't remember HT leads.

1.4 mpi, 8 valve has no HT leads. The plug connectors are integral with the coil pack.
